We Love Racquetball
Racquetball is fast, energizing, and one of the best full‑body workouts out there. It gets your heart pumping, builds strength, sharpens reflexes, and clears your mind like few other sports can. It’s fun, social, and accessible to people of all ages and skill levels.
But lately, playing has become harder to afford. With rising inflation and the cost-of-living climbing, indoor courts, already expensive to build and maintain, are disappearing from public facilities. In the Portland Metro area, the only remaining places to play are private clubs with steep monthly fees. For many, that puts the sport out of reach.
That’s exactly why outdoor racquetball matters.
Outdoor racquetball makes the game accessible again. It offers all the same physical and mental benefits, without the financial barrier. Whether you’re playing in the morning sun, under cloudy skies, or in the cool evening air, it’s an incredibly engaging way to stay active and connect with others.
This movement is already thriving in places like Southern California, where public courts and local communities keep the game alive and growing. Portland is a natural fit. We’re a city that loves being outside, values accessible recreation, and thrives on community‑built spaces.
We believe racquetball should be for everyone, not just those who can afford a club membership.
By building outdoor courts here in the Portland Metro area, we can restore access, grow the sport, and create a vibrant, welcoming community. And if you want to help make it happen, we need your voice.
Please take a moment to add your name, email address, and zip code to our Community Interest Survey. Your submission helps us show local parks and recreation departments that there’s real, meaningful interest in bringing outdoor racquetball to PDX. Every submission strengthens the case and moves this project forward.
Let’s play. Let’s grow. Let’s get everyone outside.
